BIG MEN IN NPP WHO WERE CAPTURED IN ANAS' NO. 12 VIDEO

Ghanaians were shocked on Wednesday to see the scale of corruption in the Anas No. 12 investigative piece, which detailed monumental rot within Ghana football.

Over 120 people were implicated in various corruption scandals, including Nyantakyi, the president of the Ghana Football Association, GFA.

Several leading members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) were also captured for one reason or the other in the documentary.

Their names were mentioned by Nyantakyi while he pitched a plan to invest in the country to people he thought were investors but turned out to be undercover investigators.

1. President Nana Akufo-Addo

In the video, Nyantakyi could be heard saying that Karbo had requested the investors" to make available $5 million to be given to Akufo-Addo. In exchange, he said, Akufo-Addo would ensure that they had access to lucrative contracts.

He said Akufo-Addo and his family were broke because they sold their property to finance the 2016 elections. He said Karbo had assured him that $5 million would be greatly appreciated by Akufo-Addo.

He also promised the "investors" a private meeting with Akufo-Addo.

2. Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia

Dr Bawummia was mentioned in a similar context as Akufo-Addo. Nyantakyi said the plan was to give him $3 million in exchange for helping the "investors" land contracts.

Nyantakyi also said he had discussed a plan to set up a fertiliser factory with Bawumia. He added that the vice-president had briefed him on some huge infrastructural projects that the government planned to undertake.

3. Anthony Karbo, deputy minister for roads and highways

In the leaked video, Nyantakyi portrayed Karbo as the architect of the plan to bribe Akufo-Addo, Bawumia and other big men in government. He said Karbo was fully committed to the project and would ensure that the contracts started flowing immediately the "investors" released the bribe money. Karbo was quoted as saying that there would be $100 milllion worth of contracts once an expected $15 billion loan was approved by China.

4. Kwasi Amoako-Attah, minister for roads and highways

Nyantakyi said that Amoako-Atta was
looking for investors who would provide infrastructure on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis, and so the minister's vision aligned with that of the "investors".

He said Karbo wanted the "investors" to give $2 million to the minister to secure his cooperation in their bid to land lucrative contracts.

5. Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central

Nyantakyi told the undercover investigators that Karbo wanted him to include Kennedy Agyapong in the deal because of his massive influence within the government.

He said with Kennedy's support, the deal would not encounter any challenge from any quarter.

The GFA president said Agyapong was one of the NPP's biggest financiers. He said such was Kennedy's importance to the party that he could condemn the government without any repercussion.

To demonstrate Agyapong's power, Nyantakyi said the government offered the MP a ministerial appointment but he rejected it, citing his lack of discipline.
According to Nyantakyi, the government then gave the Ministry of Transport to Agyapong to control and asked him to nominate the minister.

"They created a ministry and gave it to him and he nominated somebody as the minister. Yes, Ministry of Transport," he said.

6. Francis Asenso-Boakye, deputy chief of staff

Nyantakyi said Asenso-Boakye, the deputy chief of staff, would help with access to the president and also remind Akufo-Addo of the things they discuss with the president.
