SIX DEAD, 18 IN CRITICAL CONDITION IN THE ACCIDENT AT DOMINASE JUNCTION
Five persons died on the spot following another deadly car crash at Dominase Junction on the Winneba-Kasoa road in the Central Region.
Another person was pronounced dead on arrival at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital while 18 people are also in very critical condition. A fire officer who was at the scene to rescue those in distress, Subordinate Officer Akumey Elorm said eyewitnesses’ accounts suggest that the Hyundai Bus was behind a trailer but the trailer upon seeing the Sprinter Benz, gave way and the Hyundai not knowing that there was an oncoming vehicle, went ahead to overtake the trailer, thereby resulting in the accident.
Meanwhile, an interview with Adom News, the Dominase Police Station Officer, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Kunadu said they had a distress call that there was a fatal accident at Dominase Junction so they rushed to the scene.
According to him, upon reaching the venue, they saw five dead bodies, four females and one male on the road with other two persons trapped in a sprinter car crying for help.
He said eyewitnesses account to the police indicate that the accident was as a result of a head on collision between three cars – a Sprinter Benz Bus with the registration number GS 8702-12, a Hyundai Urvan with registration number, GX 2894-17 and a Taxi.
Chief inspector Emmanuel Kunadu said, with the help of Ghana national fire service all the dead bodies and those in critical conditions have been conveyed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
Chief Inspector Emmanuel Kunadu has advised car owners to desist from giving unrealistic sales targets to their drivers as he suspects that is putting too much pressure on them.’
